Dissolved Air Flotation is a water clarification process used to separate suspended matter from liquids through the action of a rising gas flow. In the Flotation Unit, (DAF | Dissolved Air Flotation), air is dissolved under pressure in water producing air bubbles with a diameter of 20 to 50 microns that saturate the entire liquid mass.liquida.
The rise of suspended material occurs by the capture and absorption of air bubbles from the suspended solids, as well as by the adhesion of the bubbles to the solids. The result is the formation of a light particulate that rapidly rises to form a layer on the surface of the water.
The wastewater to be treated enters a reaction coil shaped to allow thorough contact and complete mixing with the dosed chemicals. The mixture of water and air is injected after dosing the chemicals at different points in the flotation tank and reaction coil to obtain the most uniform distribution possible in the fluid. The flow of the saturated mixture of air and water of the wastewater mixed with the chemicals is then introduced into the flotation unit through a conical profile ejector to progressively increase the rate of solids rise.
In this system a layer of material accumulates on the surface in the flotation tank and is removed by a scraper, generally they are built in Aisi 304 - 316 on request different materials can be used. All joints are sealed to avoid infiltration of water condensation.
